This incredible piece of art start out as unfinished pieces of pewter. They are put together in the same manner of a plastic model. Each piece must have it’s mold marks removed along with any other imperfections. The amount of pieces vary with each model. Each model is approx. 4-5 inches tall.
Once put together the models are prepped for painting. The brushes that are used can be as small as a couple of hairs. The nylons on this particular model are a prime example of how small the brushes can be. The artist has won many competitions and awards for these pieces. Most of the models are erotic in nature. I have had various pieces for sale in our store. These are 3 of 5 that I own.
These art pieces are his passion and hobby. He is a Master Nautical Model restorer, builder, and reproducer. Some of these Nautical models can run over 100K.
Aside from the Salem Witchcraft Hysteria Salem is steeped in Maritime History with the first National Historic Site designated by Congress. Many ship models can be seen in our bank lobbies and especially in Salem’s Peabody Essex Museum.
